And I'm looking at the calendar (as people, especially me, tend to do when we're planning stuff)....

And it occurs to me.
Dammit!
I'm moving 5 days before my 22nd AA anniversary.
Dammit!
See, now the people who have long term sobriety are shaking their heads right now in knowing sympathy. And those who don't have NO fucking idea what I'm talking about.
Listen, if you're not in AA or you have under a year of sobriety, you're just going to have to believe me here ...
Well, ok. You don't HAVE to. But it would move this whole conversation (well, more like a monologue) along if you do. And, besides... if you're not going to play nice, what're you doing here anyway?
But I digress....
There's something about anniversaries. I don't know what it is. I've tried (as you might imagine over the course of 22 years, I've thought about it before) to figure it out.
And it beats the hell out of me.
But every year for the past 21 years, I've had exactly the same problem....
About 10 days before my anniversary, my life turns to total crap.
Not even the nicely formed, easy to pick up dog poop kind of crap. Real "I had some greasy mexican food" crap. You know, explosive diarrhea crap. Ooo... The "I ate too many of those 'WOW' potato chips and now I have wet farts and anal leakage" kind of crap. (Do you remember those? Olestra is an evil, evil substance...)
Do you have a good mental picture?
Oh, jeez. I hope you weren't eating while you read that... Oh well. It's done... Consider today a good day to start that diet then...
[sheepishly] Sorry....
Anyway, moving on....The point is that moving on a day 5 days before my anniversary maybe isn't the best idea that I've ever had. The thoughts of what could go wrong there abound.
That said... Deep breath....Whatever goes wrong can't be as bad as Olestra.
Famous last words.
Just Keep Coming Back

Who knows, maybe everything all of the sudden - 5 days before your 22nd AA anniversary - will go totally RIGHT!
ReplyDeleteHehee we shall see, but it is mindblowing to read that you soon celebrate 22 year... wow, now that's good stuff :)
